Obama's Revenge!

Barack Obama sent me an e-mail the other day. Out of over 250 million people in this country, he asked me to help him out with his quest for universal health care. Well I’m flattered but I am still a little skeptical that the Federal Government can manage health care and keep costs in line.

A day later David Axelrod sent me this condescending little note;
“This isn’t a game” What? I need him to tell me that? “Last night, President Obama addressed the nation in a primetime prContinue

Jay Paul,

Get clear about Money Magazine rating of Fort Collins. We long timers do not consider this such a wonderful thing. If one is upper middle class or better, Fort Collins IS a great place to take your portfolio...

Understand that I am independent and do not like government, large or small, taxing & restricting freedom. Fort Collins taxes us all & maintains our many public golf courses that tight seniors like. So does Money Magazine. Our water projects used to go to growing food. Now we conspicuously waste the water while the worldwide tuberculosis pandemic picks up speed ravaging the starving...

I miss most of my family and friends that have moved away in disgust. I'm fifth generation, plan to stay, and from time-to-time take my complaints to the mayor and city council... Frankly, we would be much better off if we would dissolve the extra layer of oppression of the voting majority of Fort Collins.

Fort Collins restricts growth which resulted in escalation of prices for residential and business which has caused good paying high-tech manufacturing to get shipped overseas.

The low paid service sector workers have no chance of owning real estate and the rents are high so lots of these working poor commute in smog making rattle traps. Since the Colorado Democrat legislature, who talks environmentalism, canceled our pollution testing vehicle laws, the smoking rattle traps are on the rise.

Of course our somewhat expensive real estate is still cheaper than USA coastline real estate so retirees come here to bigger houses & money left over to play with. So, real estate, banking, and title company jobs are lucrative.

Then the Federal government has some good paying jobs with the USDA and CDC centers. Ironically CDC and the University have emerged as a tuberculosis research center. Also, Anheuser Busch has a major brewery here that is highly automated, union, and good paying.

My wife, Vicki, works at Colorado State University that is relatively low paying but we are grateful for her job.

I work on our 1921 fixer-upper and sometimes projects get urgent. Actually earlier today I finished back-filling my 60 foot waterline ditch. just the roll of new copper cost $360 plus city tax even though I bought the copper outside the city. I did the trench by hand with pick, axe, and shovels.

When I'm not tinkering on the house, I think, research, and write. Just this month I got Comcast Broadband at home and plan to post more on the web.

The test of freedom is not a democracy with the majority of voters ruling. The test of freedom is how does the majority treat their minorities.
